Connected devices are devices connected to a field bus driven by an Enterprise server or automation server. The number of Connected Devices in a system is counted in order to establish the license quantity required for the system. The counting rules have remained unchanged since EBO 2022.
In general, all devices defined in the EBO system tree are counted. This includes devices connected behind a transparent gateway.
For example, devices behind Modbus IP gateways such as Panel Server and IFE, Zigbee devices behind a SE8000 are counted because they are transparently exposed to EBO. The exception to this rule is devices connected behind a MP or RP, they are accessible to EBO, however they are excluded from the device count.
Connected devices are devices that are directly connected to an Enterprise Server or an automation server AS-P, AS-B and AS-P-3 using standard protocol such as BACnet or Modbus.
In general, all devices defined in the EBO system tree are counted, except those defined under MP or RP.
Under the said conditions, the following devices are counted:
BACnet:
Infinity
Modbus
LonWorks
I/NET
NW8K
Infinet
Zigbee
3rd party IO Modules
Sensors and actuators directly on a field bus are counted.
Transparent gateways.
Automation servers.
SE Central IO modules
LonWorks local nodes
Devices connected to Space Logic Devices, for example RP/MP devices.
