Engineering licenses are used for the engineering phase of a project when you build a site.

Engineering License is a free time-limited system license allowing you to activate your software in order to perform the technical integration and engineering phase of a project. It can be generated from Software Companion on EcoStruxure Sale Portal upon creation of a Project. Engineering Licenses replaces the Evaluation License, also known as Demo licenses, for the purpose of building a site.

Engineering licenses are installed, assigned, and activated in the same way as commercial licenses.

Once a commercial order has been placed, the Engineering License will be converted to a commercial license. This conversion is done on EcoStruxure Sale Portal removing the Engineering marker from the Entitlement. The same Entitlement can then be used for commercial use.

New EcoStruxure BMS from 7.0 and higher

When you create a new EcoStruxure BMS it is recommended that you create Engineering Licenses in EcoStruxure Power and Buildings Software Companion. When the system is fully configured you can count the number of licenses needed using WorkStation.

For more information, see Counting Connected Devices under an Enterprise Server using WorkStation .

From version 7.1 and higher you can use the procedure to see the whole system including Enterprise server, the attached field servers and the devices.

Before you order commercial licenses, check the number of Connected Field Device licenses according to what is shown in WorkStation. The licenses are then required from Software Companion.
