Backing Up Licenses Administrated by License Administrator

You back up licenses administrated by License Administrator to be able restore them if something unexpected happens.

Backup the license files on a regular basis. To back up the license files, copy all files in the folder to an external resource. Backups are useful if the hardware or the operating system malfunctions.

Backed up licenses can only be restored on the same License Server that the files were backed up from. If you plan to move the licenses to another License Server, you first must return the licenses to the License Activation Server and then activate them on the new License Server. For more information, see Return Licenses Administrated by License Administrator .

The license files are located in: \ProgramData\FLEXnet in Windows.

The restored licenses files may on rare occasions be considered damaged by the License Server. If so, they must be repaired. For more information, see EcoStruxure Building Operation Software License Repair .

To back up Licenses Administrated by License Administrator

  1. Close all EcoStruxure Building Operation software that requires licenses.

  2. On the License Server, browse to the folder \ProgramData\FLEXnet.

  3. Copy all files in the FLEX-net folder that start with taclic_ and paste the files onto your external backup resource.
