To create a device commissioning configuration, you must first create a new or open an existing device commissioning project. You can include one or more device commissioning configurations in one device commissioning project.
A device commissioning configuration specifies basic device information, manages users, provides device location information, and specifies the device’s network configuration. You can create one configuration and use it to commission multiple devices by customizing the name and IP address for each device, and the device’s name and IP address.
You can delete a device commissioning configuration without affecting the devices that currently use the configuration.
The Zero Friction Commissioning function of the Commission mobile application is used to streamline the configuration and commissioning of multiple Touchscreen Room Controller devices. Using the Zero Friction Commissioning function, you can easily create and manage device commissioning projects that organize device configurations and then quickly deploy the configurations to one or more devices.
The scan history shows when a configuration was commissioned on a device. On the Commission Device page, the Scan History section chronologially lists all previouse scans, with the most recent scan listed first.
You can write one configuration and apply it to multiple devices that have the same part number but you must review and customize the device name, description and IP address of the device for each device that uses this configuration.
Geographic information identifies the physical location and timezone for the device.
You configure network settings to enable communication between the Commission mobile application and the device. The Commission mobile application can communicate with the device over an MSTP or IP network, or using Modbus or WiFi.
You can duplicate an existing device commissioning configuration and then customize the settings, enabling you to easily create a new configuration and apply it to a different device. When duplicating a device configuration, you can change the text in the Name field, enter a description of the configuration in the Description field, and select a new part number in the Part Number field to identify the part number associated with the device to which you want to apply the configuration. You can locate the part number under Device Info in the device. The part number is also visible on the label affixed to the physical device.
You must configure at least one Admin user per device. Technician users are optional. Both Admin and Technician users can create and view projects and configurations and view a configuration’s scan history, however only Admin users have the ability to write the configuration to a device.
