AS-P has the following communication ports:

  • 2 Ethernet 10/100 megabit ports

  • 2 RS-485 ports

  • 2 LonWorks (TP/FT and RS-485) ports

  • 1 USB host port

  • 1 USB device port

  • 1 backplane I/O bus port

The following table describes the ports that are available with AS-P.

Backplane I/O bus

Internal power supply and I/O addressing

There is one USB host port facing down to connect to external devices, such as ADs, telephone modems, printers, memory expansions (USB “sticks” or hard disc drives), and expansion modules. The USB device port on the front is intended for program download from a PC by means of Device Administrator. It is connected to a PC or a downstream port of a hub.

The Ethernet communication is performed over a 10/100BaseTX, 10 or 100 Mbit/s, twisted pair network. AS-P has a built-in Ethernet switch with two ports connected to two RJ45 connectors. One port should be connected to the site network. The other port can be used to connect a single WorkStation or WebStation, a Modbus TCP unit, or a BACnet/IP device, but not another SmartStruxure server. By default, both ports are enabled for use. The Ethernet 2 port can be disabled if needed.
