Communication Ports on RP-C Models with “-F” in the Product Name

arrow1_rotationEthernet Ports arrow1_rotationUSB Ports arrow1_rotationRS-485 Ports

The RP-C provides the following combination of communication ports:

  • Two Ethernet ports

  • Two USB ports

  • Two RS-485 ports (RJ45)

This applies to the following RP-C models with “-F” in the product name:

  • 24 V models: RP-C-12A-F-24V, RP-C-12B-F-24V, RP-C-12C-F-24V, and RP-C-16A-F-24V

  • 230 V models: RP-C-16A-F-230V and RP-C-16B-F-230V

Ethernet Ports

The two Ethernet ports are labeled:

  • Ethernet 1

  • Ethernet 2

The two Ethernet ports are 10/100BASE-TX (RJ45) ports. When both Ethernet ports are enabled, they function as an onboard Ethernet switch. Disabling the second Ethernet port disables the switching function. The switching function enables flexible network topologies. Para obtener más información, consulte BACnet/IP Controller Network Topologies . The second port also provides a connection point for a laptop running the Commission mobile application.

Para obtener más información, consulte Communication Port Wiring .

USB Ports

The two USB ports are of different types:

  • USB host port

  • USB device port

The USB host port is a USB 2.0 type-A port, which is rated 2.5 W. The USB host port can be used for connection of Wireless Adapter - Advanced to add Zigbee TM wireless connectivity to the RP-C controller. The adapter can be used to extend the controller's point count and bring flexibility in retrofit applications. Para obtener más información, consulte Wireless Adapter - Advanced .

The USB device port is a USB 2.0 mini-B port. The USB device port is reserved for future use.

Para obtener más información, consulte Communication Port Wiring .

RS-485 Ports

Aviso

For the RP-C controller models RP-C-12A-F-24V, RP-C-12B-F-24V, RP-C-12C-F-24V, and RP-C-16A-F-230V, the following description applies only for hardware version 10 and later of the controller. Para obtener más información, consulte Differences Between RP-C Hardware Versions .

The two RS-485 ports are labeled:

  • RS-485 Com A

  • RS-485 Com B

The RS-485 Com A and Com B ports are both rated 3 W (24 VDC).

The two RS-485 ports are RJ45 ports. Para obtener más información, consulte RJ45 Pinout for the RS-485 Port(s) of the RP-C Controllers .

Each port can be configured to use one of the following three communication protocols for different types of networks:

  • Sensor bus

  • Room bus

  • Modbus

Aviso

An RP-C can have only one of each network type.

The sensor bus is designed for communication with SpaceLogic Sensor devices. Para obtener más información, consulte RP-C Sensor Bus .

The room bus is designed for communication with RP controller expansion modules for connected room solutions. Para obtener más información, consulte RP-C Room Bus .

The Modbus (RTU) network can be used for communication with the KNX Modbus gateway (RP-C-EXT-KNX) and standard Modbus devices. Para obtener más información, consulte RP-C Modbus .

One of the RS-485 ports can also be configured to support BACnet MS/TP network communication with the automation server. Para obtener más información, consulte RP-C BACnet MS/TP Support . The other RS-485 port can then be configured to support either sensor bus, room bus, or Modbus network.

Para obtener más información, consulte Allocating Flexible Ports .

Default configurations:

  • Sensor bus on the RS-485 Com A port

  • Room bus on the RS-485 Com B port
