The EcoStruxure Building Operation software supports a database solution for external storage of semantic information.
The semantic information is a contextual representation of a building that follows the Brick schema. It includes representation of building assets such as points, locations, and equipment.
The semantic information is configured in WorkStation, and the information is available in WorkStation and WebStation. The information is also available through EcoStruxure Web Services.
EcoStruxure Building Operation uses a Sparql database, GraphDB from Ontotext, to handle semantic queries.
For more information, see Semantic Database .
The EWS metadata makes it possible to add semantic information to the EWS items, provided that the EBO object that is exposed by EWS is semantically described.
Semantic tagging is exposed using EWS.
For more information, see Semantic Data and EWS .
You can use a limited number of queries in the Graph database without a license. To be able to use the Graph database to its full extent a license is needed.
If you use an GraphDB on another location than the EBO default location, you have to aquire a license.
You can navigate the semantic database using search and filter.
For more information, see Semantic Navigation in WorkStation .

Use this workflow to configure EcoStruxure Building Automation system to use semantics.
For more information, see Configure EcoStruxure Building Automation System to use Semantic Workflow .
Semantic engineering is the process describing an EcoStruxure Building operation database using semantic s .
For more information, see Semantic Engineering Overview .
You can create a semantic repository for each tenant. You do this in a system with multi tenants where you do not want the tenants to share their semantic information.
For more information, see Tenant Repository .
