The RS-485 adapters are RJ45 to screw terminal block adapters and are offered as accessories for some BACnet/IP controller models when the controllers are used in certain network configurations.
The RS-485 adapters are available in three models:
Isolated RS-485 Adapter (SXWISORS48510001)
Non-isolated RS-485 Adapter (SXWNISORS48510001)
RS-485 Power Adapter (SXWNISORS485P10001)
The RS-485 adapters can be ordered from Schneider Electric using the above part numbers.
The Isolated RS-485 Adapter (SXWISORS48510001) is used when connecting a BACnet/IP controller that supports reconfiguration for BACnet MS/TP communication to a BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) network. The Isolated RS-485 Adapter has an isolated RS-485 transceiver and is used when the BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) network is comprised of isolated controllers, such as MNB BACnet devices (zone controllers) and selected others.
For more information, see Isolated RS-485 Adapter .
The Non-isolated RS-485 Adapter (SXWNISORS48510001) is used when connecting a BACnet/IP controller that supports reconfiguration for BACnet MS/TP communication to a BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) network. The Non-isolated RS-485 Adapter is used when the BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) network includes non-isolated controllers, such as the b3 BACnet family of zone controllers.
The Non-isolated RS-485 Adapter (SXWNISORS48510001) is also used when connecting an RP or MP controller that supports Modbus communication to a Modbus RTU subnetwork.
For more information, see Non-isolated RS-485 Adapter .
The RS-485 Power Adapter (SXWNISORS485P10001) is used with BACnet/IP controllers to support the connection of various types of devices to an RS-485 based network such as Room Bus, Sensor Bus, or a Modbus RTU network. The RS-485 Power Adapter is a flexible device that can be used for several different applications, which mainly fall into the following categories:
Convert a BACnet/IP controller RS-485 interface
Enable injection of 24 VDC from an external power supply to an RS-485 bus
