Differences Between MP-V Hardware Versions

There are few differences in hardware between different hardware versions of the MP-V models.

  1. The part number and hardware version are shown on the label on the front of the MP-V controllers.
  2. The RS-485 Com A port on MP-V-7A and MP-V-9A controllers with part numbers SXWMPV7AX10002 and SXWMPV9AX10002 is prepared for BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) network communication through modified pin configuration. An RJ45 to screw terminal block adapter is required to connect the MP-V controller to the BACnet MS/TP network for communication with the AS-P or AS-B server. The adapter can be ordered from Schneider Electric. In addition, a Cat 5 (or higher) UTP cable with RJ45 connectors is required to connect the adapter. The recommended maximum cable length is 0.3 m (12 inches). The cable should be rated for the target environment. The cable is not included with the adapter but needs to be purchased separately.
  3. SXWMPV7AX10002 and SXWMPV9AX10002 are compatible with EcoStruxure Building Operation version 2.0.4 and later when the controller firmware is downgraded in the field to version 2.00.03.01203 and later. Version 4.0.x controller firmware from the factory is compatible with EcoStruxure Building Operation version 3.x.x and later. BACnet MS/TP support for SXWMPV7AX10002 and SXWMPV9AX10002 requires controller firmware version 4.0.2 and later and EcoStruxure Building Operation version 4.0.2 and later.
  4. The RS-485 Com A port on MP-V-7A and MP-V-9A controllers with part numbers SXWMPV7AX10001 and SXWMPV9AX10001 does not support BACnet MS/TP (RS-485) network communication, but is designed for and can only be used for the sensor bus.
  5. The RS-485 Com A port may be labeled “Sensor Bus” or “RS-485 Com A” on MP-V-7A and MP-V-9A controllers with part numbers SXWMPV7AX10001 and SXWMPV9AX10001 and hardware version xx/19 and earlier.

Differences in VAV Air Flow Control Range Between Sensor Types

The MP-V controllers with part number SXWMPVxAX10x02 and the MP-V controllers with part number SXWMPVxAX10001 and of hardware version xx/21 and later have a microflow pressure sensor, while the MP-V controllers with part number SXWMPVxAX10001 and of hardware version earlier than xx/21 have a diaphragm-based sensor. The microflow sensor provides higher resolution, stability, and accuracy, especially at low velocity pressures near zero (0), compared to the diaphragm-based sensor. This allows for a reduction in the recommended low velocity pressure in the VAV air flow control range. The MP-V controllers with diaphragm-based sensor support a flow control range from 7.5 to 249 Pa (0.030 to 1 inH 2 O). This compares to the MP-V controllers with microflow sensor that support a flow control range from 3.7 to 249 Pa (0.015 to 1 inH 2 O).

Déclaration

The low-flow control depends on the VAV characteristics and conditions beyond the sensor. Stable low-flow control also depends on the stability of the air duct inlet pressure (static pressure at the VAV), the precision and smoothness of the air damper movements, the integrity of the damper gasket and sealing, and the VAV controller program applications.
