Adding an Entitlement without the HTML file when a EcoStruxure BMS Server is not Connected to License Activation Server

Device Administrator is used to manage Centralized Licensing on EcoStruxure BMS servers. Centralized Licensing is the main Licensing feature in EcoStruxure Building Operations.

From version 7.0 a new way of licensing is used. Device Administrator is used to handle most of the licenses.

All 7.0 and later EcoStruxure Building Operation BMS servers uses centralized licensing.

All pre 7.0 EcoStruxure Building Operation BMS servers uses the old licensing.

Centralized Licensing Top Server Concept

Central licensing is administered from the top server in the system using Device Administrator. When the top server is added to Device Administrator you can assign and activate all licenses required on your system from Device Administrator.

Use this workflow to assign and activate licenses.

Multi-version System

A multi-version system uses both the old, pre 7.0 version, licensing system and Centralized Licensing.

Upgrading

In a multi-version system running 7.0 and 6.0 and earlier version you must upgrade License Administrator if you want to use the editors and clients. For more information, see Editors and Clients That Uses Licenses Administered by License Administrator .

After the upgrade to 7.0 you must install new licenses for all other products and features using Device Administrator.

Entitlements, Products, and Licenses

Licenses are bought as products and delivered in Entitlements. An Entitlement is a container that can contain several products. The products contain the licenses and they can differ in quantity and contents.

EcoStruxure BMS Centralized Licensing Workflow

Use one of these workflows, depending on if the field servers are connected or not connected to the Internet.

Certificates

It is recommended to use HTTPS for the communication between Device Administrator and the EcoStruxure BMS servers when you manage licenses.

Return Licenses on Field Servers

You can return licenses from EcoStruxure BMS servers.

To add an entitlement without the HTML file when a EcoStruxure BMS server is not connected to License Activation Server

  1. In Device Administrator, click Entitlements .

  2. Click the Add Entitlement down arrow and click Manually .

  3. Enter the entitlement ID.

  4. Click Next .

  5. Click Skip .

    If you know that you do not have any server connected to internet in the list, click Skip . If you do not click Skip , Device Administrator goes through all servers in your list until it finds one that is connected to internet.

  6. In the Entitlement Products - Enter Manually list , enter the Activation ID, Description and seat count for the product.

  7. Click Add Product , to add more products.

  8. Click Add .

When there is no connection between the EcoStruxure BMS Server and License Activation Server, Device Administrator cannot synchronize the number of licenses in the entitlement that are available for activation.

Instead, Device Administrator assumes that all licenses that was purchased can be activated.
