Solid-state Relay (SSR) Outputs with Power Distribution on RP-C-16C-F-230V

arrow1_rotationEspecificaciones

The RP-C-16C-F-230V controller model offers selectable power supply to the solid-state relay (SSR) outputs. An external power supply (24 VAC / VDC, 8 A) or the internal transformer (24 VAC, 19 VA) can be selected via jumpers.

The power is distributed either from an external power supply connected to the EXT Input on the controller or from the internal transformer. The choice of external or internal power supply is made by placing a jumper on a pin header located on the front of controller.

Para obtener más información, consulte Jumper-selectable External or Internal Power Supply to SSR Outputs on RP-C-16C-F-230V .

RP-C-16C-F-230V has 16 I/O points of the following types:

  • 8 configurable I/O points – SSR outputs (DO) or universal inputs/outputs (Ub)

8 connectors with one DO and one Ub each (DO1/Ub1 to DO8/Ub8). If the Ub is activated, the corresponding DO is permanently on.

  • 4 dedicated SSR outputs (DO9 to DO12)

  • 4 dedicated universal inputs/outputs (Ub9 to Ub12)

The outputs can be configured as one of the following types:

  • Digital output

  • Digital pulsed output

  • Pulse width modulated output

  • Tristate output

  • Tristate pulsed output

Aviso

When a configurable I/O point is configured as a universal input/output, the corresponding SSR output (DO) is permanently enabled and cannot be turned off.

Aviso

When the power to the controller is off, all DOs will be off regardless of whether the power comes from an external power supply connected to the EXT Input or from the internal transformer.

Power distribution

All or some of the SSR outputs (DOs) can be powered from the internal transformer, which delivers 24 VAC output voltage up to 19 VA. All or some of the DOs can be powered from an external AC or DC power supply. For more information, see section “Specifications”. If an external DC power supply is used, it can be connected with any polarity. The left terminal of the EXT Input connector, marked “–”, is connected to the negative supply. This means that if the negative branch of the external DC power supply is connected to the “–” terminal, the distributed output polarity will be positive. If the positive branch of the DC power supply is connected to the “–” terminal, the distributed output voltage will be negative.

The internal transformer provides a SELV voltage. When an external power supply is used, that device must also provide a SELV voltage.

The outputs are divided into four different groups: “A”, “B”, “C”, and “D”. Any of these groups can be connected to either the internal transformer or to the external power supply through the EXT Input connector. If the jumper is placed in the lower position on the pin header, the internal transformer is connected. If the jumper is placed in the upper position on the pin header, the external power supply is connected. The SSR outputs are connected to the corresponding groups as shown below.

DO Group

SSR Outputs (DOs)

“A”

DO1, DO2, DO3, DO4

“B”

DO5, DO6, DO7, DO8

“C”

DO9, DO10

“D”

DO11, DO12

The maximum allowed total output power from each group is 2 A DC or AC rms , if the SSR outputs are powered from an external power supply. The internal transformer is rated 19 VA, which means that the total maximum output current from all SSR outputs (DOs) that are connected to the internal transformer is 0.79 A rms . The maximum current of 2 A for each group is basically determined by the current capability of the jumper.

There is no internal current protection for the DOs that are supplied from the external power supply, so this must be protected by an external fuse or similar. There is a PTC thermistor on the primary side of the internal transformer, which acts as an overcurrent protector for the DOs that are connected to the internal transformer.

The actual output voltage from the SSR outputs that are powered from the internal transformer is following variations in the line power connected to the Power Input, which is typically 230 VAC.

The EXT Input on the controller can be supplied from any SELV voltage in the range specified in the “Specifications” section.
