Selecting External or Internal Power Supply to SSR Outputs on RP-C-16C-F-230V Using Jumpers

You select an external power supply (24 VAC/VDC) or the internal transformer (24 VAC, 19 VA) to power a group of solid-state relay (SSR) outputs (DOs) on the RP-C-16C-F-230V controller by placing a jumper on the pin header for that DO group on the controller.

The RP-C-16C-F-230V controller model offers selectable power supply to the solid-state relay (SSR) outputs. An external power supply (24 VAC / VDC, 8 A) or the internal transformer (24 VAC, 19 VA) can be selected via jumpers.

The internal 24 VAC transformer is rated 19 VA. When the total load connected to the SSR outputs (DOs) exceeds 19 VA, the internal transformer can be supplemented with an external AC or DC power supply to supply one or more of the DO groups. The external power supply is connected to the EXT Input connector on the controller. The EXT Input is marked 24 VAC / VDC, 8 A. For more information, see Solid-state Relay (SSR) Outputs with Power Distribution on RP-C-16C-F-230V .

The SSR outputs (DOs) are divided into four different DO groups, and for each DO group there is a 3-pin header accessible from the front of the controller.

The 3-pin headers have an upper and a lower position. You select the power source to a DO group by placing a 2-position jumper in either the upper or lower position on the pin header for that group.

Any of the DO groups can be connected to and powered from either an external power supply or the internal transformer.

Note:

The controller is delivered with the jumpers placed in the lower position on the pin headers. This means that the internal transformer is preselected as power supply to all SSR outputs (DOs).

Note:

Spare jumpers can be ordered separately using the Samtec part number SNT-100-BK-G-H.

To select external or internal power supply to SSR outputs using jumpers
  1. Locate the pin header for the group of SSR outputs (DOs) that you want to power from an external power supply or the internal transformer.

  2. Place the jumper in either the upper or lower position on the pin header to select either an external power supply or the internal transformer to power the DO group.

    • Upper position: External power supply (24 VAC/VDC)

    • Lower position: Internal transformer (24 VAC, 19 VA)

    Tip:

Use pliers to place the jumper on the pin header.
