Multi-version System Licensing
A multi-version system uses both the old, pre 7.0 version, licensing system and Centralized Licensing.
The top server must always be of the same or a higher version than the attached servers.
In a multi-version system, it is possible to have servers from earlier EcoStruxure Building Operation versions attached to a top server running EcoStruxure Building Operation 7.0.1 or higher. In this case Centralized Licensing licenses activated on the top server are inherited by the attached child servers running EcoStruxure Building Operation version 6.0 or earlier.
Base licenses including Enterprise Server, field server and Connected Devices that are installed on the top server are inherited to the attached servers. Attached servers do not require any local license activation.
Attached servers running EcoStruxure Building Operation versions 6.0 and earlier, base licenses including Enterprise Server, Automation Server and Connected Devices need to be activated correspondingly to the version of the EcoStruxure Building Operation server. When upgrading the top server to EcoStruxure Building Operation version 7.0.1, and you want the attached servers to stay on earlier versions, please make sure that you keep the existing licenses intact on each of the attached server. When the attached server has been upgraded to EcoStruxure Building Operation 7.0.1, you can remove the old, pre 7.0 version, licenses from the attached servers.
Pre 7.0 has permanent licenses. When you upgrade to a higher version, the licensing is managed using Centralized Licenses from the top server.
Note that Licenses Administrated by License Administrator still applies for some clients regardless of version.
