All objects in the EcoStruxure Building Operation database have to have a name. The EcoStruxure Building Operation objects are case-sensitive and differentiates between upper and lowercase characters.
Two objects cannot have the same name in the same folder even if the objects are of different types. For example, you cannot create an alarm named Building A and a graphic named Building A in the same folder. However, if you name the graphic Building a, with a lowercase a, you can create it in the same folder as the alarm object Building A.
The following characters are not allowed in object names in EcoStruxure Building Operation software.

White space is not allowed in the beginning or the end of an objects name.
. (period) is not allowed in the beginning or the end of an objects name.
There is no limitation of how many characters an object name can have. However, some field devices retain their character limitations when they are added to EcoStruxure Building Operation database.
In order to ensure that a naming standard is followed on the site, you can choose a name from a list of suggestions in the create wizard. For more information, see Naming Convention .
Use mass edit when you want to change several property values or rename several objects at a time.
