Time and Time Zone Overview

A time zone is a region on the earth that has a uniform standard time, usually referred to as the local time. Local time is the UTC time plus the current time zone offset for the considered location. Some time zones also have an offset called DST added during the summer period. The DST offset is typically +1 hour.

Enterprise Server and Enterprise Central Time and Time Zone Configuration

The Enterprise Server and Enterprise Central time and date settings are configured through the operating system settings on which the Enterprise Server and Enterprise Central are installed. The time zone offset, configured through the Enterprise Server or Enterprise Central, is added by the EcoStruxure Building Operation software to the UTC time. The Enterprise Server and Enterprise Central time zone settings are therefore independent of the operating system time zone settings.

For more information, see Time and Time Zone Configuration in Enterprise Server and Enterprise Central .

Automation Server Time and Time Zone Configuration

To adjust the automation server time, time zone, and DST, you have to access the automation server through a WorkStation.

For more information, see Automation Server Time and Time Zone Configuration .

FDP Server Time and Time Zone Configuration

The FDP server gets its date and time from the FDP panel operating system and are configured in Fire Expert. The time zone offset is configured in the FDP server using Workstation and is added to the FDP panel UTC time by the EcoStruxure Fire Operation software. The FDP panel operating system time zone settings are independent of the FDP server time zone settings.

For more information, see FDP Server Time and Time Zone Configuration .

WorkStation Time and Time Zone Configuration

In WorkStation, all times are by default displayed in local time. This means that a time, independent of its source, is displayed in the same time zone as the operating system on which WorkStation is installed. By configuring the operating system time and time zone settings, you configure how times are displayed in WorkStation. For more information, please refer to the manufacturer’s manual for the operating system.

For more information, see WorkStation Time and Time Zone Configuration .

Time Zone Settings Synchronization

You can establish a lead and shadow relationship to synchronize the time zone settings on all your EcoStruxure BMS servers. The Time Zone object on the lead server contains the time zone settings that are inherited by shadow servers.

For more information, see Time Zone Settings Synchronization .

Network Time

Consistent date and timestamping across a network is critical for system wide access control, security, communications, scheduling, alarms, and events. Network time uses the NTP protocol that provides the correct current UTC time.

For more information, see Network Time .

Time Configuration List in WebStation

Using WebStation you can display a list of time configuration issues to see if you must synchronize servers.

For more information, see Diagnostics in WebStation .
