In a fire detection system, there are different types of alarms, faults, maintenance alerts, tests, and disablements. Various causes generate these alarms and changes in device states.
All alarms from the FDP server are categorized as system alarms in EcoStruxure Fire Operation. The alarms belong to one of the system alarm categories in EcoStruxure Fire Operation.
Within each category, there are several types of system alarms. For more information, see Fire Detection System Alarms .
Note that the alarm mode set in Fire Expert affects which category of alarm and alarm that is triggered. For more information, see Alarms and states .
Fire alarms are generated when fires are detected by devices in the fire detection system and one of certain alarm modes are active. For more information, see Alarms and states .

Fire |
A fire is detected by detectors or initiated by for example a manual call point or an input unit. |

Local fire |
A fire is detected, but the alarm is not transmitted to the fire alarm router. Local fire alarms are generated when the alarm mode is set to Local alarm. |

Delayed fire |
A fire is detected, but the alarm delay function is configured. It gives the operator the option to acknowledge an alarm and get more time to investigate the cause of the alarm and take appropriate action. |
Faults are related to, for example, issues with devices or connections in the fire detection system. Maintenance alerts are related to, for example, the configuration or the drift limit of the fire detection system.

Test alarms are generated by a user when a zone is in test mode. For more information, see Alarms and states .

Generated when the alarm mode is either Pre-alarm or Coincidence. If the mode is Pre-alarm, only pre-alarms are generated. If the mode is Coincidence, the first detector generates a pre-alarm until other conditions are fulfilled. Those conditions depend on the configuration. |
Technical alarms are generated due to technical issues in the fire detection system or integrated solutions. Technical alarms can be generated in any alarm mode. For more information, see Alarms and states .

Disablement alarms are generated when certain objects are disabled by users. Disablement alarms can be generated in any alarm mode. For more information, see Alarms and states .
