Uploading Request Files to License Activation Server (FNO)

You upload request files to the License Activation Server (FNO) with license information so that you can receive response files that you send to the automation server.

This step must be done a computer that is connected to Internet and has access to License Activation Server (FNO).

You can reclaim licenses on your automation servers so that the licenses are updated with the latest information.

This is typically done when expanding a license subscription.

Reclaim licenses on Automation Servers

Device Administrator is used to reclaim licenses installed automation servers.

Consider the following cases when reclaiming licenses on automation servers.

Online

In the online case the computer that runs Device Administrator is connected to the Internet.

Online reclaim on a semi online system

A special case is semi online system where the automation server is not connected to Internet, but Devices Administrator is connected to Internet. A semi online system is treated as an online system for licensing purposes.

Offline

In the offline case the computer that runs Device Administrator and the automation servers are not connected to the Internet. Neither the Device Administrator nor the automation servers can connect to License Activation Sever (FNO).

Use this workflow to reclaim licenses on automation servers that are not connected to Internet and cannot access License Activation Server (FNO).

Reclaim licenses on Enterprise Central or Enterprise Servers

License administrator is used to reclaim licenses installed on Enterprise Central or Enterprise Server.

To upload request files to License Activation Server (FNO)
  1. In Device Administrator, click Servers .

  2. Select Show licenses .

  3. Select the automation servers.

  4. Click Return or Reclaim depending on the task you want to perform.

  5. Click Upload request files to the License Activation Serve r (FNO) to receive response files .

  6. Click OK .

  7. In the Request file box, browse to the request file.

  8. In the Response file box, browse to the destination where you want to save your response files file.

  9. Click Upload .

Move the response files to a computer running Device Administrator that is connected to the automation servers.
