Transferring an Application Image File to a Mobile Device

In preparation for downloading an application image to a SmartX IP controller, you copy the image file from a shared location to the Android, Windows, or iOS (Apple) mobile device hosting the eCommission SmartX Controllers mobile application.

Prior to using the eCommission SmartX Controllers mobile application at a job site, there are certain preparations that must be made. Complete the following tasks, as well as any additional tasks that may be necessary.

To use the eCommission application at the job site

Download the eCommission application to the mobile device and then activate the application (requires Internet access).

To connect the eCommission application to the SmartX IP controllers

Consider the connectivity requirements needed for the job site, for either option: connect by wire or connect wirelessly.

Download application images to SmartX IP controllers at the job site

Copy the application images onto the eCommission application mobile device.

To transfer an application image file to a mobile device

  1. Start the eCommission application.

  2. Connect the eCommission application mobile device to the WorkStation computer.

  3. On the WorkStation computer, locate the folder containing the application image files.

  4. On the eCommission application mobile device, navigate to the CommissioningTool\Application Images folder, using a file navigation utility available on the device.

    Note:

    File organization, and navigation within the file structure, varies from one Android platform to another. Therefore, you may need to try more than one approach when searching for the controller list file.

  5. Transfer the application image file from the folder on the WorkStation computer to the CommissioningTool\Application Images folder on the eCommission application device.

Use the Files utility to copy an application image file to an iOS (Apple) device

  1. Start the eCommission application.

  2. Use the iOS Files utility application to copy the application image file from a location accessible by the iOS device, for example an email or cloud storage, and then paste the file to the On My iPhone\eCommission SmartX Controllers\CommissioningTool\Application Images folder.

Use iTunes to copy an application image file to an iOS (Apple) device

  1. Start the eCommission application.

  2. Connect the eCommission application mobile device to the WorkStation computer containing the application image files.

  3. Using iTunes, add the application image file to the eCommission SmartX Controllers Documents folder in iTunes.

  4. Using the iOS Files utility application, transfer the application image file to the On My iPhone\eCommission SmartX Controllers\CommissioningTool\Application Images folder.

You can now download the application image file to a SmartX IP controller, using the eCommission application.
