Removing and Reassociating the Synchronized Child Server BACnet Interface from its Parent

You remove the synchronized BACnet interface of a Child server from its Parent server when you want to independently manage the BACnet interface of the Child server. Should this state later change, you can reassociate the child server BACnet interface with its parent. Child and Parent servers follow the Lead and Shadow relationship. Upon hosting, the Child server automatically propogates with the BACnet interface of the Parent server.

You add EcoStruxure BMS servers to the EcoStruxure Building Operation database to expand the EcoStruxure BMS and you detach EcoStruxure BMS servers from the EcoStruxure Building Operation database when you no longer want them to be part of the EcoStruxure BMS.

Add Servers

You can add EcoStruxure BMS servers to the EcoStruxure Building Operation database either by creating new Enterprise Servers to a top-tier Enterprise Central and field servers to a top-tier or middle-tier Enterprise Server. You can also add existing EcoStruxure BMS servers to the EcoStruxure Building Operation database.

Add a child server to a parent server from the parent server

You can add a lower tier server to a higher tier server from the higher tier server.

For more information, see Creating an EcoStruxure BMS server .

For more information, see Creating an Automation Server .

For more information, see Creating a Field Server from a Backup Set .

For more information, see Adding an Existing Enterprise Server to an Enterprise Central .

Add a parent server to child server from the child server

You can add a lower tier server to a higher tier server from the lower tier server.

For more information, see Attaching a Child Server to a Parent Server .

Delete Servers

You can detach field servers from the EcoStruxure Building Operation database. You can also detach Enterprise Servers whether they contain field servers or not. You detach the EcoStruxure BMS server on the server itself or from an EcoStruxure BMS server on a higher tier. After you detach an EcoStruxure BMS server, it is no longer part of the EcoStruxure BMS.

For more information, see Detaching an EcoStruxure BMS Server .

For some objects on an EcoStruxure BMS server, for example the time zone object and schedule object, you can establish a lead and shadow relationship to the parent EcoStruxure BMS server. A shadow object automatically synchronizes settings from its connected lead object. A lead and shadow relationship can only be established between objects of the same kind.

For example, an Enterprise Server and three individual field servers are located in same time zone region. Instead of individually configuring all the servers time zone, a lead and shadow relationship is established. The Enterprise Server is the lead object and the three field servers are shadow objects. With this relationship, the Enterprise Server time zone settings are reflected and used by the three field servers.

When you set up a lead and shadow relationship, you define which object is the lead object in the properties of the shadow object. For example, to synchronize an Enterprise Server object with an Enterprise Central object, you define the lead object, in this case the Enterprise Central object, in the properties of the Enterprise Server.

A server on a higher level, such as an Enterprise Central, typically acts as the lead. However, a lead and shadow relationship can be established between two field servers.

When you configure lead objects on an Enterprise Central, the shadow objects on Enterprise Servers can, in turn, control objects on field server.

Network Time Settings Synchronization

You can establish a lead and shadow relationship to synchronize the time on all your EcoStruxure BMS servers with the same network time server. The Date and Time object on the lead server contains the network time server addresses that are inherited by shadow servers.

For more information, see Network Time Settings Synchronization .

Time Zone Settings Synchronization

You can establish a lead and shadow relationship to synchronize the time zone settings on all your EcoStruxure BMS servers. The Time Zone object on the lead server contains the time zone settings that are inherited by shadow servers.

For more information, see Time Zone Settings Synchronization .

Content Type Synchronization

When you have predefined content types that you want to use for specific types of folders or container objects on an EcoStruxure BMS server, you can reuse the content types on another EcoStruxure BMS server. You reuse the content types by configuring a lead-shadow relationship on the shadow object.

For more information, see Content Type Synchronization .

Schedule and Calendar Synchronization

When you configure a schedule that controls events in a single part of a building, you might also want the same events to occur in other areas of the building. You can establish a lead and shadow relationship to synchronize the events in schedules and dates in calendars.

For more information, see Schedule and Calendar Synchronization .

Alarm Control Panel Synchronization

When you have predefined Alarm Control Panel objects, for example user actions or alarm decorators, that you want to reuse on another EcoStruxure BMS server, you configure a lead-shadow relationship on the shadow Alarm Control Panel.

For more information, see Alarm Control Panel Synchronization .

BACnet Interface Synchronization

When you add a Child server to a Parent server, the BACnet interface of the Child server automatically propogates with the BACnet interface of the Parent server. If you want to manage the BACnet interface of a Child server independently of the Parent server, you remove this synchronization.

For more information, see Removing and Reassociating the Synchronized Child Server BACnet Interface from its Parent .

Note:

To remove the BACnet interface synchronization between a parent and child server, you must be logged in to the parent server.

To remove and reassociate the synchronized BACnet interface of a child server from its parent
  1. In WorkStation, in the System Tree pane, expand the Servers folder.

  2. In the Child server, expand the System folder.

  3. Expand the Interface Manager , and select BACnet .

  4. In the menu, select Advanced and then click Remove synchronization with Parent Server .

    Tip:

This command is effectively a toggle, so the menu selection name changes based on the current state. If the state changes, you can reassociate the BACnet interface of a child server with its parent by selecting Synchronize with Parent Server .

  5. Click Save .

The synchronization of the Child server BACnet interface has been removed from its Parent. The Read only shadow tab is now blank.
