Luminosity Measurement

The RP controller expansion sensor modules support luminosity measurements through an ambient light sensor.

The ambient light sensor measures the intensity of visible light. The spectral response of the sensor matches the response of the human eye.

The luminosity range and field of view of the sensor module are specified below.

0 to 10,000 lux
30 degrees from vertical

It is recommended to install the sensor module at least 1 m (3.3 ft) from all windows to help prevent strong sunlight from disturbing the ambient light sensor's luminosity measurements.

The luminosity measurements need to be calibrated on site during commissioning. The calibration is done by measuring the light levels in the room using a light meter and then entering a constant lighting reference value (lux) in the EcoStruxure Building Operation software.
