Configuring an Automation Server to use 802.1X Protected EAP Security

You configure an automation server to use 802.1X Protected EAP to increase the security.

Automation servers support IEEE 802.1X security. Automation servers can be configured as supplicants on a network protected by IEEE 802.1X security.

The following IEEE 802.1X authentication methods are supported:

  • MD5

  • EAP TLS

  • Protected EAP with MSCHAPv2

Important:

When using IEEE 802.1X Security, Ethernet 2 cannot be set to switch mode.

To configure an automation server to use 802.1X Protected EAP security
  1. Connect to the USB device port. For more information, see Connecting to an Automation Server Using the USB Device Port .

  2. In Device Administrator, click Servers and then click the server name.

  3. Click 802.1X Security .

  4. In the 802.1X Security list, select Protected EAP .

  5. In the CA Certificate box, browse to the CA certificate.

  6. In the Inner authentication  box, select the inner authentication method to be used by PEAP.

  7. In the Username box, enter the name of the user on the authentication server.

  8. In the Password box, enter the password for the user on the authentication server.
