Configuring the MS/TP Address

You must configure a unique MS/TP address for the RP and MP controllers and RP-IO modules that only support MS/TP communications. You do so during installation by using position 1-7 on the address DIP switch.

Tip:

MAC address 0 is a valid address for MP or RP controllers. You cannot use this address, however, if another device on the bus uses address 0.

In many installations, the automation server uses address 0. If this is the case, be sure to avoid using the address when configuring MS/TP communications in MP and RP controllers.

You must configure the DIP switches as part of the commissioning process for the RP and MP controllers and RP-IO modules that only support MS/TP communications.

For more information, see BACnet MS/TP Network Communications .

For more information, see EasyLogic RP-IO .

Tip:

Use only switches 1-7. Switch 8 is unused.

See the table and graphic that follows for more information on the switches and their ON values.

For example, to configure address 6, configure DIP switches 2 and 3 to ON and switches 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7 to OFF.

For more information, see Configuring the MS/TP Address .

Configuring the MS/TP address
  1. In the RP or MP controller or RP-IO module, locate the address DIP switch.

  2. Use position 1-7 to configure the address.

    Position 1-7 represent the binary values 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64.

    Tip:

    Position 8 is not valid.

  3. Activate the switch at the numbered position by moving the switch down (ON) and then deactivate it by moving the switch up (OFF).
