Temporarily Trusting an Invalid Certificate

You temporarily trust an invalid certificate when you are sure that you have a secure connection between Device Administrator and an automation server.

You can check the status of certificates.

The certificate state is displayed, and can be changed, in the Certificate State column in Device Administrator.

Certificates can have tree states, invalid, invalid but temporarily trusted, and valid.

Invalid certificate

An invalid certificate is indicated by the icon

When the certificate is invalid no communication between the Device Administrator and automation server is allowed.

An invalid certificate that is temporarily trusted is indicated by the icon

When the invalid certificate is temporarily trusted communication between Device Administrator and the automation server is allowed.

You can temporarily trust an invalid certificate to allow communication between Device Administrator and the automation server.

The trusting of the certificate is only valid for the current user session. If you close Device Administrator and re-open it the certificate is not trusted anymore.

Valid certificate

A valid certificate is indicated by the icon

A valid certificate allow communication between Device Administrator and the automation server. Valid certificates are the preferred state.

To temporary trust an invalid certificate
  1. In Device Administrator, click Servers .

  2. In the Certificate State row, click on the icon.

  3. In the Invalid Certificate dialog box, select Trust the certificate .

When you have completed the task that required that your trusted the invalid certificate, open the Invalid Certificate dialog box again and select Do not trust the certificate .
