Schneider Electric recommends backing up the License Server files on a regular basis. To back up the license files, copy all files in the folder to an external resource. This backup is primarily intended for cases when hardware or the operating system malfunctions.

Backed up licenses can only be restored on the same License Server that the files were backed up from. If you plan to move the licenses to another License Servers, you first have to return the licenses to the License Activtation Server and then activate them on the new License Server.

The License Server files are located in the following locations:

  • Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10: \ProgramData\FLEXnet

  • Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012: \ProgramData\FLEXnet

Licenses restored from a backup can be considered damaged by the License Server. For more information, see License Repair .
