Restore

Restore is the process of restoring data to an original or former state. Using Restore, you can revert to a previous snapshot of the EcoStruxure BMS server data despite any configuration changes made since the last backup. In the EcoStruxure BMS, Restore is a manual process designed to avoid the accidental overwriting of current EcoStruxure BMS server data.

Restored Data

Depending on what is contained in the backup file, you can restore different types of data.

  • Configuration only : the EcoStruxure Building Operation software restores the configuration database and custom object type data. Any existing historical data is lost when you select this option.

  • All data : the EcoStruxure Building Operation software restores the configuration, historical, and custom object types data.

For more information, see Restored Data .

Field Server Replacement Using Restore

Backup and Restore helps assure that field server data can be restored to a replacement field server in the event of detected failure, or to the same field server in the event of data loss. As a precaution, you back up your field servers regularly so that you can use the most current backup to restore the field server data to a replacement field server. You also configure the new field server to match the name and the network settings of the replaced field server so the system can identify this field server when online.

For more information, see Field Server Replacement Using Restore .

Duplicate Field Server Using Restore

You can use the Restore function to re-use the configuration data from a backup set in a new standalone field server. Rather than manually configuring your preferred field server configuration, you can save time and configure the standalone field server from a backup set.

The backup set used can originate from a field server that is or has been part of a multi-server configuration.

For more information, see Duplicate Field Server from a Backup Set .

Validation of Field Server Backups

Field server backups contain a checksum used to validate the backup when restoring. The validation is done to avoid that the backup has been tampered with.

For more information, see Validation of Field Server Backups .
