Creating the Request Files when Reclaiming Licenses

You create request files to get a response file with reclaimed licenses.

You gather, and download, the license information from the EcoStruxure BMS servers. This information is used to identify the licenses that are to be reclaimed.

Reclaiming licenses is the process of making sure that the licenses are updated with the latest information.

This is typically done when expanding a license subscription.

Reclaim Licenses on EcoStruxure BMS Servers

Device Administrator is used to reclaim licenses installed on EcoStruxure BMS servers.

Online reclaim

In the online case the computer that runs Device Administrator is connected to the Internet.

Online reclaim on a semi online system

A special case is semi online system where the EcoStruxure BMS server is not connected to Internet, but Devices Administrator is connected to Internet. A semi online system is treated as an online system for licensing purposes.

Offline reclaim

In the offline case the computer that runs Device Administrator and the EcoStruxure BMS servers are not connected to the Internet.

Use this workflow to reclaim licenses on EcoStruxure BMS servers that are not connected to Internet.

Reclaim Licenses for Some Editors and Clients

License Administrator is used to reclaim licenses on some editors and clients.

To create the request files when reclaiming licenses

  1. In Device Administrator, click Servers .

  2. Select Show Licenses .

  3. Select the EcoStruxure BMS servers.

  4. Click Reclaim .

  5. Click Create request files .

  6. Click OK .

  7. In the License Information field, browse to the license information file.

  8. In the Request field, browse to the location where you want to download the request file information file

  9. Click Download .

Move the request file to a computer running Device Administrator that is connected to Internet.
