Running the Commission mobile application on a Windows laptop computer, you can connect directly to a BACnet/IP controller by Ethernet wire. Optionally, you can use an Ethernet switch to connect the computer and the BACnet/IP controller.
The Browse Objects function of the Commission mobile application creates a list of all the objects within a BACnet/IP controller. You can use this function to view and, if needed, edit the properties of any of these objects.
Connect the Commission mobile application to the building network to configure and manage the BACnet/IP controllers on the network. Due to the uniqueness of each building network, it is not possible to provide specific instructions that are appropriate in all cases. Consult with the site's IT department to devise a connection method that is best suited to that particular building network.
You connect to the network and acquire an IP address so that you can communicate with the devices on that network. Most network connections used with the Commission mobile application assign an IP address to your mobile device using DHCP, which is a type of automatic addressing. However, certain Ethernet or WiFi networks may require you to use a static IP address. Consult with the network administrator to determine if a static IP address is required.
You can use the Controller List Creator feature to capture device information contained in the digital matrix symbol on the tear-off product information label packaged with the BACnet/IP controller. When you scan the data matrix with the Commission mobile application, the Controller List Creator saves this information to a data file that can be exported and used in documenting the physical location of the controller on the job site.
You calibrate a high or low voltage blind power module because blinds come in all shapes and sizes, as do the windows that they are fixed to. Out of the box, the RP-C controller blind module does not know the size of the window or the blind. As a result, the controller cannot determine how long the motor should spin in order to configure the blind at 50% and the angle at 25%, for example.
You can use the Controller List Creator function of the Commission mobile application to capture device information from the Digital Matrix symbol on the tear-off product info labels of BACnet/IP devices.
The Commission mobile application is a powerful and convenient tool for use with BACnet/IP Controller devices. However, as with any application, security considerations and appropriate actions must be taken to guard against unauthorized access.
