AD v1 Communication and Power

AD v1 can use either a wired (USB) connection or a wireless (WiFi) connection to communicate with SmartStruxure servers. AD v1 can be powered either by an AS-P, AS-B, or USB power adapter, but not by an Automation Server.

Communication over a USB Connection

The preinstalled SmartX AD-Link application enables AD v1 to communicate with SmartStruxure servers over a USB connection.

When AD v1 is connected to AS-P or AS-B, AD v1 can be powered by the SmartStruxure server device through the USB cable. The screen must not be turned on constantly because this may drain the battery.

Notice

Use only USB cables ordered from Schneider Electric. Using a cable that exceeds 3 m (10 ft) or that is not designed for AD can cause loss of data or power.

When AD v1 is connected to an Automation Server, AD v1 must be powered by a USB power adapter. The Automation Server does not provide enough power for AD v1. A USB “Y” cable allows you to connect AD v1 to two different devices, an Automation Server and a USB power adapter, to receive data and power respectively. The screen must not be turned on constantly because this may drain the battery.

Use only Samsung-approved power adapters. Using other power adapters can cause the battery to explode or damage the tablet.

Warning Warning

HAZARD OF EXPLOSION OR DEVICE DAMAGE

Use only Samsung-approved power adapters.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

Communication over a Wireless Connection

AD v1 can communicate with SmartStruxure servers through a wireless access point (AP), which is connected to the same network as the SmartStruxure servers. When used as a stationary HMI terminal, AD v1 is connected to a USB power adapter to ensure that its battery is charged.
