Unhosting a SmartX IP Controller

When necessary, temporarily unhost a SmartX IP controller from the server to allow a task to be performed or completed.

To unhost a SmartX IP controller
  1. Start WorkStation.

    Note:

In WorkStation, in the Device Discovery View , you can easily see whether the controller is hosted, by viewing its status in the Hosting Status column.

  2. In the System Tree pane, under the controller's host server, delete the device object.

    Warning Warning

    Unintended equipment operation

When you delete a device from the server, in some cases bindings from the device to resources such as graphics may be broken. These bindings may need to be recreated later, when adding the device back on the server.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death, serious injury, or equipment damage.

  3. Return to the eCommission application to perform the desired task or resume the task that was interrupted.

  4. When the task is completed, return to WorkStation and add the controller's device object back on the server.

  5. Recreate any bindings that were broken when the device was deleted from the server.

The controller was temporarily unhosted, allowing you to complete the task that was prevented or interrupted.
