Connecting to Network of BACnet/IP Controllers by Wire

Running the Commission mobile application on a Windows laptop computer, you can connect directly to an Ethernet port on a networked BACnet/IP controller, or use an Ethernet switch to connect to a group of controllers.

Download, install, and log on to the Commission mobile application

Download, install, and log on to the Commission mobile application, and then accept the Terms of use agreement.

Power up the controllers

Power up the BACnet/IP controllers.

Prepare a wired or wireless connection for use with the Commission mobile application mobile device.

Start the Commission mobile application and discover controllers

Start the Commission mobile application and then discover the BACnet/IP controllers on the network.

To connect to a network of BACnet/IP controllers by wire

  1. Configure the network connections on the Commission mobile application computer and the BACnet/IP controllers:

    • If the network contains a DHCP server, configure these network connections for DHCP addressing.

    • If the network does not contain a DHCP server, configure these network connections for static IP addressing.

  2. Connect an Ethernet cable between the Commission mobile application computer and Port 1 of an BACnet/IP controller on the network. If you are using an Ethernet switch, connect the computer and the controllers to the switch, using Ethernet cables.

  3. In the Commission mobile application, on the Home page, click IP Network , select a network adapter, and discover devices.

  4. In the Device List view, select the BACnet/IP controllers to make the connections.

Using the Commission mobile application, you can now perform tasks on the connected BACnet/IP controllers as needed.
