Connecting to Network of BACnet/IP Controllers by Wire

Running the eCommission SmartX Controllers mobile application on a Windows laptop computer, you can connect directly to an Ethernet port on a networked BACnet/IP controller, or use an Ethernet switch to connect to a group of controllers.

Download, install, and activate the eCommission application

Download, install, and activate the eCommission application, and accept the end user license agreement.

Power up the controllers

Power up the BACnet/IP controllers.

Prepare a wired or wireless connection for use with the eCommission application mobile device.

Start the eCommission application and discover controllers

Start the eCommission application and then discover the BACnet/IP controllers on the network.

To connect to a network of BACnet/IP controllers by wire

  1. Configure the network connections on the eCommission application computer and the BACnet/IP controllers:

    • If the network contains a DHCP server, configure these network connections for DHCP addressing.

    • If the network does not contain a DHCP server, configure these network connections for static IP addressing.

  2. Connect an Ethernet cable between the eCommission application computer and Port 1 of an BACnet/IP controller on the network. If you are using an Ethernet switch, connect the computer and the controllers to the switch, using Ethernet cables.

  3. In the eCommission application, on the Select Connection view, select the WiFi icon

    to start Ethernet networking.

  4. In the Device List view, select the BACnet/IP controllers to make the connections.

Using the eCommission application, you can now perform tasks on the connected BACnet/IP controllers as needed.
