Connecting to Single SmartX IP Controller by Wire

Running the eCommission SmartX Controllers mobile application on a Windows laptop computer, you can connect directly to a SmartX IP controller by Ethernet wire. Optionally, you can use an Ethernet switch to connect the computer and the SmartX IP controller.

Download, install, and activate the eCommission application

Download, install, and activate the eCommission application, and accept the end user license agreement.

Start the eCommission application and discover controllers

Start the eCommission application and then discover the SmartX IP controllers on the network.

To connect to a single SmartX IP controller by wire

  1. Configure the network connections on the eCommission application computer and the SmartX IP controller for DHCP addressing.

    For more information, see Configuring SmartX IP Controller Device Settings .

  2. Connect an Ethernet cable between the eCommission application computer and Port 1 of the SmartX IP controller. If you are using an Ethernet switch, connect the computer and the controller to the switch, using Ethernet cables.

    Important:

    Because an actual DHCP server is not used, both the eCommission application computer and the SmartX IP controller will self-assign link-local IP addresses.

  3. In the eCommission application, on the Select Connection view, tap or click the WiFi icon

    to start Ethernet networking.

  4. In the Device List view, select the SmartX IP controller to make the connection.

    Note:

    The Device List view has filters that allow you to easily find and select the controller:

    • If you are logged in as a Flow Balancer, the device list is automatically filtered to show only MP-V controllers.

    • If you are logged in as a Technician or Electrician, you can sort the list of discovered devices by controller model.

Using the eCommission application, you can now perform tasks on the connected SmartX IP controller as needed.
